Kojima, the birthplace of Japanese made jeans! In 1962, our company established itself in the area as the first Japanese manufacturer of lady’s jeans . Since then, while building our excellent reputation as a leading manufacturer of lady’s jeans, we pioneered the industry by successfully developing a smaller line in 2002, “Eco Betty”, which recycles the leftover cloth from the jeans manufacturing process. The following year, we opened the first jeans museum in Japan, “Jeans Museum”. Over the last half century, we’ve continuously tried to raise the bar higher and higher in the industry by envisioning new concepts. 2002 was also the year we started manufacturing the world’s first “fully custom-made jeans”. Our company’s spirit has never wavered and never will, we have always been pushing the boundaries and love a challenge. At Betty Smith, we are defined by our corporate vision, to “build a Japanese jeans culture” and we’ll certainly do our best to continually innovate over the next half century, too.
