Perception Verbs in Japanese: “-が見える”, “-が聞こえる” Part1-Grammar N4-10

The expression “[Something]が見える(MIERU)” means that something is visible; “[Something]が聞こえる(KIKOERU)” means that something is AUDIBLE. Neither verb implies volition or will, it just express something that happens. English translations for these sentences are “can see” and “can hear” but in this video will see why it may be best to perceive them as just being “visible” and “audible”, so that you don’t accidentally attribute volition to them.
