Marina Pez Vela - 2013 Offshore World Championship

Marina Pez Vela Quepos with the essential support of the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) accepted the invitation from the Marine Division of Bonnier Corporation to host the 2013 Offshore World Championship. The finale of the largest international offshore fishing series in the world took place at Marina Pez Vela, Quepos, Costa Rica on April 14th through the 19th of 2013. In its 13 year history the Offshore World Championship has attracted thousands of anglers competing in over 130 qualifying tournaments around the globe. Marina Pez Vela is proud to be associated with an event that is known internationally as the "Olympics of Fishing" where those winning teams are invited to compete. In its very first year in Costa Rica, the Offshore World Championship hosted 67 teams from 31different countries. The 324 anglers experienced a record-setting bite for the tournament, recording 821 bill fish releases:811sailfish, nine blue marlin and one striped marlin.
