UP 6056 Z-Train Intermodal North - E. Weber Avenue Railroad Crossing, Stockton CA

(Filmed November 2, 2025) I went out to downtown Stockton this day as I wanted to do some local railfanning. The northbound UP ZLCTM intermodal stack train wasn’t too far out so I came here to E. Weber Avenue to catch it. Shortly after the intermodal went by the UP YST65 local, which was working at the UP Old Yard, did a switching move out of there and came close enough to the crossing to activate it before it timed out. It’s a normal practice for the local to pull out of the yard as this was their indication to me that they were ready to head back to the main yard. But of course, they had to shove back to the yard lead switch to pick up the crew member who threw that said switch. This crossing owned by Union Pacific is a mixed install with the cantilevers and right gate less signal being an SP 1970s signal install with the bell, lights and mast light heads not being original. The left gate less signal is an SP 1990s signal install with its bell and light not being original. The gated masts are a UP late 2010s signal install with changes to their gates.
