I finally found the famous “zarandeado” but in the form of shrimp, not fish (stay tuned for that). These were the most delicious grilled shrimp I’ve ever had. I loved the charred, grilled flavor, and also the juicy tenderness that the shrimp retained. I could have eaten a whole bushel of them. What was supposed to be a meal was really just a snack, but it justified me getting a little ice cream afterwards. This was the big day for Mazatlán Carnival - the day of the opening parade. I didn’t attend and instead enjoyed walking the deserted streets. The parade looked beautiful (I saw pictures), but the crowds also looked enormous, and I’m not feeling like I missed anything.
