I am not giving my opinion on what happened in this case since I am not an expert in medical law You can show the stats of drug errors and support the incident but what I feel is It's a very big lesson for all the Doctors and nurses and we all how things will change overnight with the small mistake we do with out our knowledge. Drug error are not acceptable in the medical practice and damage the career of the person and hospital involved so its always better to not having them. I am going to explain few simple things you can follow to prevent drug errors How do we prevent them? 1. Checking the drug before loading with the chemical name and after loading and giving to the patient, its better to confirm with another qualified person. 2. Checking the vitals after drug administration every 5 minutes Video 3. If you have a doubt Doctor: Google and see the drug details Nurse : Call the doctor and wait for his confirmation 4. Never be in the time pressure since its not worth it. Its ok if you go home little late than getting stuck with a problem like this. All the above things are very simple to follow and they will prevent the drug errors to near 100 percent if you follow them regularly after which it becomes a habit.
