Anglesey 10k (POV) - The Race - 01/03/2026 This is the POV of the race. This was my 100th race and I expected to be running across the Menai Bridge to celebrate it. However, the organisers changed the route in December 2025 to the Showground, near RAF Mona, which all said and done was a bit of an anti-climax in comparison. I started in 524th position out of 555 runners. At the 5k interval I was 239th and my 5k split was 28m18s. After the 4th mile I dropped back a fair bit with a 5k sector time of 33m15s and was 367th in that sector. Finish time was 1h01m33s and overall finish position of 315th. The 10k route itself starts in the Showground and heads out onto the nearby roads and does a small out and back before heading off into a 10k loop around some undulating country lanes. The race wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the weather on the day. Winds started at around 25mph on average at race start and were expected to reach 35 to 40mph by late morning / early afternoon. Rain was light but persistent. Issues with parking, meant the race for both the Half Marathon and 10k events were delayed by 15 minutes and trying to get out of the event was also problematic. Whether the race will return to the same venue in 2027 or not I've no idea, but I probably won't do this one again. especially given the cost of it. Despite the headwind getting the better of me from the 4th mile, I still managed my quickest 10k time of 2026. A long way from where I have been in the past, but this year is about recovery and steady progression.
