The amount of climb or drop depends on the paraglider that you have equipped. For example, in this video I am flying the Dudek Warp in an 18M; This is an advanced wing. The effect of the speedbar is much more drastic that the effect it would have had on my older Ozone Spyder or my Dudek Universal. This is mainly because the speed is distributed evenly between the speed system and the trim system (50:50) Beginner and intermediate paragliders have the speed mostly put into the trim system rather that the speed system that utilizes the speedbar (80:20). This is a safety feature that prevents serious injury caused by lack of familiarity of the speed system. This also make beginner and intermediate gliders ideal to learn the speed system on! Eventually, you, too, can progress to more advanced gliders with MORE speed building into the speedbar.
