When I paint my landscapes, I choose joy instead of the "shoulds" and "should nots". I choose colours that make me smile instead of the colours that "should" make the scene look more realistic. I choose playfulness and experimentation instead of staying away from things that "should not" be there, like those "blooms/backruns" I was taught to avoid. I do not follow watercolour "rules" because to me, they steal the joy of making art from deep within my creative core. Let's have some fun with watercolour and invite joy into our creative process.
