I bought a 45 m2 / 484 ft2 log house that is in poor shape. My initial plan was to renovate this house for year-long living for myself. However, when I removed everything that was covering the walls inside and outside, it looked like the damage is too big. I invited a log house expert to review the house and to get some advice. It is most likely cheaper and easier to build a new house rather than restore this one, but what makes most sense for me? This is what I am trying to figure out now. In the summer of 2025 I bought a neglected property with an old farmhouse and several run-down sheds in a quiet village. It had been six years since anyone lived there. I started with clearing out the sheds and removing the shrubs that had taken over a lot of the yard. I had to demolish several of the buildings that were in poor shape. This has transformed the area massively.
