Join Cecile and me for a spectacular hike in Central California’s Kings Canyon National Park: Big Baldy Ridge Trail. Starting at 7,577 feet, this 4.3-mile roundtrip trail winds through recovering burn areas and climbs steadily to a wide-open ridge at 8,264 feet. We were rewarded with jaw-dropping views on the way up and from the rocky summit — with the vast Sierra Nevada range spread out before us and the mighty 14,508’ Mt. Whitney standing proud on the western horizon. Whitney holds a special place in our hearts — it’s our favorite hike and our favorite mountain, and seeing it from this vantage point was magical. This moderately high-altitude hike offers both peaceful forest solitude and wide panoramic glory. Hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did!
