Bonneville Broadcasting System Demonstration Reel 1989 Desktop Radio, Digital Easy Mix Bonneville’s NEW at the time (1991) 50/50 vocal to instrumental ratio format created by Steve VanOort of Ankeny, IA. More in line with “Today’s EZ Listening”. Several hours of airchecks of KMXD, Steve VanOort’s EZ Mix radio station can be listened to on this YouTube channel. At the time a recently produced CD library from an extensive investment into digital migration between 1987-1989 was made by BBS. BBS called this investment “True Source” with most of the arrangements being captured from master tapes in the extensive Bonneville library. The Ultra CD library was designed to work with Desktop Radio from BSI. Pioneer 6 disc cartridge CD changers being triggered using the IR remote controls, linked Into a conventional switcher, controlled by a PC running specialized software. The radio station had full control over the music and can implement suggested playlists from the syndicator on a daily basis. This was unheard of in the industry at the time. Also a strong selling point for radio station owners wanting more control over programming not previously offered in fixed reel to reel tape formats called “matched flow”. This demo tape was sent to prospective buyers in 1989.
