Jamestown is the capital of St Helena Island, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. Until recently St Helena was only accessible by sea with visiting ships and yachts anchoring in Jamestown harbour. However, St Helena Airport began scheduled flights in 2017 and now weekly flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, keep the island connected with the outside world. The island is tiny and very remote, it’s most notable claim to fame is that French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled here in 1815, where he died 6 years later. For anyone considering living or taking up a job opportunity on St Helena, this short film gives some insight to what you can expect to find in the island's capital, Jamestown.
