This topic will help parents and families of people with disabilities understand how to plan today for the life they want tomorrow. Using a “backwards planning” approach, we’ll explore how keeping competitive, integrated community employment as a long-term goal can shape the services, supports, and decisions made throughout the years. Service professionals, families, and adults with disabilities can all benefit from attending this useful training. Participants will: Understand what “backwards planning” means and why it matters in transition. Learn how community employment can guide the OhioISP process, service selection, and daily skill development. Identify practical steps families can take now to build toward meaningful, integrated work. Gain tools and questions to use with county boards, service providers, and support teams.
