Gibson Les Paul Custom Gold Burst 1981

Today we're looking at a vintage Gibson Les Paul Custom in Gold Burst finish made in 1981 with original hard shell case. This guitar features a double bound solid mahogany body with a maple top, 3-Piece maple neck and bound ebony fingerboard with a bound headstock. Equipped with its original Gibson patent stamp humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions dating to 1981. Controlled by 2 volume, 2 tone pots and a 3-Way toggle switch comprised of its original pots dating to the 43rd week of 1980. The 24.75" scale length neck has mother of pearl block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12" radius with a slim taper profile. The hardware is comprised of gold Gibson branded Schaller flip out speed winder tuning machines with keystone heads, a corian nut, a Gibson Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with stop tail and black speed knobs with a 5-Ply black pickguard. The goldbust Les Paul customs were made between the years of 1981 and 1983 and only 50 were made originally. Out of the 50 most of them were sent back to the factory due to issues with the finish. The bronze metal flake in the finish would cause an orange peeling and would easily flake off when played heavily and turn green underneath similar to vintage Les Paul Goldtops. Gibson later made a secondary version of the harvest gold finish using a silver base coat which held up better over time but the finish colors between the original run and later version looks different. There are also variations aside from the finish from 1981 to 1982 and 1983 because it was a transitional time period. In 1981 you have a maple neck with a the volute on the back of the neck has and the flip out winding tuners which this example has. In 1982-1983 you have a mahogany neck without the volute and regular tuners. This rare guitar is in overall excellent condition for it's with some signs of play. It has some binding shrinkage spots, some light dings, light dents, some scratches and surface marks. It has some oxidation of the metallic paint in a few spots You can check out the listing here: https://diabloguitars.com/products/gi...
