(21 Aug 1995) STORY The death toll in Monday's (21/8) suicide bombing in northern Jerusalem remains at five. More than a hundred were wounded in the attack, twelve people seriously. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin suspended West Bank autonomy talks with the PLO, but said the bombing would not deter Israel from fighting terrorism or brokering peace. In Gaza PLO leader Yasser Arafat denounced the bombing. Right-wing israelis took to the streets to demonstrate against the bombing and what they see as their government's weakness in allowing Palestinian autonomy and negotiating with Syria over a withdrawal from the Golan Heights. Following Monday's attack, the army closed off both the West Bank and Gaza until further notice.
