The inaugural "Encounter Shanghai" Travel Extravaganza is underway. Today, we're recommending popular attractions on Chongming Island, this ecological paradise, to embark on an unforgettable two-day Chongming journey. On the first morning, step into Dongping National Forest Park, located in the central part of Chongming Island. As a national 4A-level scenic area, it boasts a 90% forest coverage rate, making it a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in nature. Strolling through the park, you might unexpectedly encounter adorable animals such as "forest-loving" deer, elegant swans, and peacocks displaying their plumage, experiencing the vibrancy and vitality of nature. For families with children, there are various amusement facilities and an immersive light and shadow theater, allowing them to explore the mysteries of nature while playing. Whether it's a family trip or a small gathering with friends, you can find a beautiful resonance with nature here. After a short rest, head to Xisha Pearl Lake Scenic Area, Shanghai's first national 5A-level tourist attraction with an ecological focus. The goose release performance here is truly spectacular. As the only rare bird release performance in the Yangtze River region, it takes place daily at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM. Flocks of these rare birds soar overhead and float on the surface of Mingzhu Lake, graceful and melodious, their wings fluttering and calls echoing. You can even hand-feed them and have close contact with the geese. The "water forest" within the scenic area is also a rarity in Shanghai; rowing through it feels like entering a mysterious green kingdom. Climbing to the wooden viewing platform, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mighty Yangtze River. At sunset, the golden fireball slowly sinks, dyeing the entire waterway a gradient of golden orange—Chongming's most expansive farewell gift. The M515 Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, transformed from old factory buildings, is a trendy and artistic hub for creative industries. The 515 Coffee Art Center, located in a former 1980s factory area, is built along the Nanheng River. The interior combines American retro industrial style, motorcycle elements, and art installations, using the river and sunset to create an aesthetic scene reminiscent of the Seine in Chongming. The "Shao An Wu Zao" Chinese-style tea shop boasts a strong Chinese aesthetic, with elegant decor and eye-catching furnishings. A huge Ming-style phoenix crown is dazzling, adorned with traditional intangible cultural heritage items such as fish lanterns and mother-of-pearl inlaid paintings of ladies. In the evening, stay at the Flower Expo Guesthouse or a local guesthouse, enjoying comfortable accommodations and a warm ending to your exciting first day. The Houyuan Guesthouse is converted from an old residential house. The courtyard retains the architectural style of the Sitingzhaigou area characteristic of Chongming. The guesthouse features a study, tea room, self-service kitchen, spacious dining hall, and private rooms. Outdoors, there are campsites, lawns, fish ponds, and fruit and vegetable picking gardens, creating a rural landscape. The next morning, we headed to Dongtan Wetland Park, located on the eastern side of Chongming Island. Adjacent to a national nature reserve, this area was once barren saline-alkali land. After more than a decade of natural restoration, it has been transformed into a bird paradise and a pristine garden on the edge of the city. The park features shimmering lakes and swaying reeds, providing a habitat specifically for migratory birds, with 149 bird species recorded as visitors. Even more excitingly, the precious Yangtze alligator has successfully "settled" here, not only overwintering naturally but also hatching its offspring, marking a significant breakthrough in population recovery. As a nationally certified AAAA-level scenic area and eco-tourism demonstration zone, it's an excellent place to connect with nature and relax. At noon, we dined at Yingdong Resort, enjoying the fresh river and lake delicacies at Donghu Fishing Restaurant, savoring the delicious flavors. In the afternoon, we visited Changxing Island Country Park. Here, you can fully enjoy nature's bounty and experience the perfect blend of ecology and leisure. The park's most popular activity is the seasonal fruit picking, where visitors can pick citrus fruits, strawberries, grapes, and other fruits according to the season. The Qianwei 1966 Educated Youth Theme Hotel is themed around "farm charm and educated youth culture." The single-story buildings with red tiles and white walls incorporate design elements from the Cultural Revolution, farms, crops, and educated youth. Riverside sculptures recreate glimpses of the lives of these young people.
