A muggy, stormy summer’s afternoon ride ☁️🚴‍♂️ — a second visit to Cross Creek, with a couple of surprise wildlife encounters on the descent. Just outside Siberia Tunnel, two young mountain goats 🐐 darted across the gravel path, leaping into the roadside scrub. Later, after Prices Tunnel, a large male goat jumped directly into the trail, prompting a cautious slowdown — but thankfully, no collisions. Once at Cross Creek, a welcome surprise: track improvements were underway 🛠️ — with work stretching toward the creek bridge and beyond. It’ll be exciting to see what’s changed by the time of the next ride out to Featherston. The return trip proved slower than usual in the heavy, humid air 🌫️, but with no rainfall 🌧️, it was a calm close to the adventure, ending in the near-dark cool of dusk 🌌.
