Locomotive consist: CN 5401 - EMD SD60 - CN Noodle w/ website - Raised Letter K3LA CN 5411 - EMD SD60 - CN Noodle w/ website This crossing is located on the CN Lulu Island Spur. Horn setting: Quiet zone. Safetran cantilever on the left: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs and a RACO mechanical bell. Safetran cantilever on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs. Gateless mast on the right: A clamp-style base and 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20" lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs. On September 25th, 2024, I spent that afternoon chasing CN’s Lulu Island switcher along the Lulu Island Spur. I first came to this crossing to begin the chase, which I didn’t have to wait long for the train. A few minutes later, the crossing activated, and the Lulu Island switcher came through with its usual pair of SD60s hauling a hopper car and a load of autoracks, something that is now history as the Richmond Auto Terminal closed down a few months later. This crossing was a great one, and I’m glad I managed to get another video of this crossing. Since my last video of this crossing back in 2019, CN replaced the 8” incandescent lights with the current Safetran 12x20” GE Uniform Look LED lights in 2023. Thankfully, nothing else changed with the crossing until about a year after I recorded this video, when a truck hit the cantilever on the far side. It was replaced with a new gateless Siemens cantilever featuring the usual equipment and another Siemens E-Bell. Sad to see another mechanical bell on this line now gone.
