More information about the video content bellow: 1. The St Vincent and the Grenadines Botanic Gardens is located in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere (preceded by Kew Gardens in London and Bartram's Garden in Philadelphia) and perhaps the oldest in the tropical world. King’s Hill is the oldest Forest Reserve in St. Vincent and the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere. It was established in 1791 to ‘attract the clouds and rain’ and thus provide rain for surrounding areas that were otherwise dry and windswept. 2. St Vincent and the Grenadines is the only Caribbean country in which petroglyphs, recording our ancestors’ presence are found. These can be found in Yambou, Buccament, Layou and Barroullie. 3. The capital of St Vincent and the Grenadines is Kingstown. It boasts a large number of shops and souvenirs. There are more than 400 arches to be found in Kingstown – “The City of Arches”. Other sights can be the churches of St Mary and St George, built in a unique architectural style. 4. There is an active volcano on St Vincent (La Soufriere) that last erupted in 1979. At any moment it might wake up, so its being closely studied by volcanologists. 5. The islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines include the main island of Saint Vincent 344 km2 and the northern two-thirds of the Grenadines 45 km2, which are a chain of smaller islands stretching south from Saint Vincent to Grenada. There are 32 islands and cays that make up St Vincent and the Grenadines. Nine are inhabited, including the mainland St Vincent and the Grenadines islands. 6. Wallilabou Anchorage was the principle Caribbean location for Disneys 2003 hit movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. 7. Fort Charlotte is an historic fort with spectacular views overlooking Kingstown. It is located just to the west of Kingstown and perched at 182 metres overlooking the bay - a short drive from Kingstown. Constructed in 1806, Fort Charlotte was a significant fortification that housed around 600 troops and a battery of over 30 canons. The canons were mostly pointed inland, to defend against Caribs.
