Gratian, whose full name was Flavius Gratianus, was a Roman emperor who ruled in the 4th century AD. Son of Valentinian I, he was appointed co-emperor in 367 and assumed full power after his father's death in 375. During his reign, he faced barbarian invasions and political tensions, standing out for his support of Christianity and measures against paganism, such as the removal of the Altar of Victory. In 379, he named Theodosius I as co-emperor to rule the eastern part of the Empire. However, his rule ended abruptly when he was assassinated in 383 by the usurper Magnus Maximus. ⚔ Support the channel: / @histodat ► Other videos from the channel ◄ ➙ Ancient Egypt: • Hor-Aha: Egypt's First Pharaoh ➙ Ancient Rome: • The Gallic Wars: How Caesar Conquered a Na... ➙ European Medieval Kingdoms: • The Battle of Maldon: Vikings vs. Saxon Lo... ➙ Biographies - Historical Figures: • Hor-Aha: Egypt's First Pharaoh ➙ Battles of History: • The Battle of Agincourt: The Slaughter in ... ■ Channel's goal: to become a visual encyclopedia of history. ➤ Contact = histodat@gmail.com ➤ Illustrator = / aleilustrame ➤ Animator = davidkhuntun1992@gmail.com ➤ Script = acanocanedo@gmail.com See you in the next video!
