Gyaku tsuki in another of the basic punches in karate. “Gyaku” means opposite and the” tsuki” means punch. So if your left leg is out you will be punching with your right arm. The target of the punch is usually the opponent's face or solar plexus. We are starting from zenkutsu-dachi stance, my left fist is on my hip, that is my punching hand. Elbow is pulled back. Back foot is flat. We can break this punch in three step. Step number one for Gyaku tsuki Karate punch - we are in our front stance, we don’t move our arm, we just pull our back leg next to our front leg. We just step up and breath in and our knees are bend. In the step number two for Gyaku tsuki Karate punch - we still don’t move our hands, just begin to step out and our hips start to twist.
