BMW E30 Rear Seat Reupholstering Guide | How To Fit Lseat E30 Leather Seat Covers Rear Bench | 063 In this video, I show you step-by-step how to replace the seat covers on the rear seats of your BMW E30 with a set from Lseat. Here's what I used in this video: Hog Ring Pliers & Rings: https://ebay.us/LJjaD8 Pliers to remove Hog Rings: https://ebay.us/8gy6ew Hole Punch for the straps: https://ebay.us/P7IngJ Quality spray adhesive by 3M: https://ebay.us/KEtxie Lseat E30 Rear Seat Cover: https://www.lseat.com/products/1984-1... E30 Seat Badges: https://ebay.us/1AEqUO A big step in the process for me E30 restoration project! Whether you're dealing with worn-out upholstery, cracked vinyl, or simply want to upgrade to leather, this guide will walk you through every detail to make your rear seat bench look factory fresh using replacement E30 leather seat covers from LSeat. Save money by tackling this rear seat reupholstering project yourself instead of hiring an upholstery shop. This video covers: Removing old hog rings with pliers and preparing the foam base for the new cover. Transferring the wires from the original cover into your leather replacement for that OEM fit. Stretching and securing the leather cover over the foam base using hog rings for a snug, wrinkle-free finish. Tips for using spray adhesive to ensure tight coverage on concaved areas, preventing a baggy or loose-looking covers. My rear seat bench is the original velour one from 1990 and in seemingly reasonable condition aside from a big gash in the top, probably done by whoever fitted the big ugly 6x9 speakers on the rear parcel shelf. So it won't do and needs to be reupholstered. I had already removed the rear seats from the car, which is very easy in an E30, simply lift and pull the base, and the seat back is a case of removing two screws and lifting it off the hooks. If I'm being honest, I've had these new E30 leather seat covers on the shelf for a while, I picked them up from L-Seat having seen others have great success using them. I would not say these are cheap, but they are certainly excellent value, considering how expensive getting an upholstery professional to work on your interior could be. I am very impressed with the quality of the covers, they come foam backed, all cut and sewn to shape, basically ready to fit. I went with simple black leather covers, but there are some interesting and tempting colours available from them, if you're feeling more creative. I unpackaged the leather and allowed it to sit and relax in my front room for a while, so the storage creases would drop out a bit, and cracked on removing all the hog rings from the original covers, taking note of where they are affixed. You will notice that the foam itself has metal bars running through it, you will need to reattach the new cover by putting hog rings between the wire in the cover, and the metal bars on the foam. This makes them very solid. For the seat back, you need to remove the seat belt retainers which are plastic and push-fit. They are extremely stubborn to remove even with a big pry bar. Take your time and you can avoid damaging them. Due to the shape of the seat back, there are staps on the cover which you need to attach, but you should also use spray glue to stick the seat cover into the hollows. You will need to cut reliefs in your new cover for the plastic seat belt buckle retrainers and they are push fit. Finally, I decided to add E30 seat badges as a finishing touch, which I think look really retro and cool. Stay tuned for more BMW E30 restoration tutorials!
