The Pilgrims Way | Winchester to Canterbury | A Pilgrims Whipping | Day 6

The Pilgrim's Way is the oldest English Pilgrimage from Winchester to Canterbury starting at St Swithun's Shrine in Winchester Cathedral and heading for Thomas Becket's Shrine in Canterbury Cathedral. Following the ancient tracks of the Pilgrim's Way the same route pilgrims have walked on for over a 1000 years - this long distance footpath stretches 187 miles. So lets Get Outdoors. Today route is an interesting one, I had a running with Brambles and had a running with an ambulance. Starting by the Titsey Estate and heading to Wrotham, it started with a form of whipping like King Henry II received from his Pilgrimage, but mine was the result of Brambles. As we continue along the ancient paths we head for Chevening a place full of history, diplomacy and controversy. now a place the Prime Minister gets to choose who stays there. passing overhead Spitfires we continue on to Otford a character village where the Archbishops Palace use to stand. Onwards to St Clere where Anne Boleyn once lived when courting King Henry VIII, but beforehand I had a running with an ambulance. after St Clere we head for Wrotham where St Georges church stands, the oldest church in England. Although quite a wet day it was still enjoyable with history of Kings, Palaces, quaint villages and my own Pilgrims Whipping. Route Download: https://explore.osmaps.com/en/route/1...
