📍 Big Almaty Lake Travel Guide 2026 | Our Real Experience with Join Me Asia In this video, we share our complete experience visiting Big Almaty Lake in Kazakhstan — from joining a group tour, to the steep hike, to reaching the beautiful frozen lake in January. Here’s everything you should know before planning your trip! 🚕 How We Reached the Lake The hike is long and very tough, so we took a shared taxi arranged near the base. Important details: • Taxi goes only when at least 4 people join • Cost: 5000 KZT per person (may vary depending on season) • You shouldn’t drive up by yourself because it’s a steep hill area, not a simple road 🥾 Hiking Routes, Distance & Difficulty There are two hiking routes that lead to the top viewpoints. But please note: • The hike is more than 10 km • It’s very steep and quite hard, especially in snow • If you have any pain or injury, you should avoid this hike • There are no shops, no washrooms, and very few people on the trail • Going with a guide is strongly recommended for guidance and navigation ⬇️ Coming Back Down We hiked back down because you won’t find taxis at the top. If you want to go up and down only by car, you must book a private tour in advance. ❄️ Visiting in January (Frozen Lake Experience) In January, the lake is fully frozen and the entire valley is covered in snow — unbelievably beautiful!
