Hello dolls, 🌼 and welcome to Vlogmas Day 11: Anita Pallenberg: The Woman behind the Myth! Anita Pallenberg was born between Germany and Italy into a family shaped by art and movement. Restless from the start, she was expelled from boarding school, briefly tried art restoration, and then hitchhiked across Europe before sailing to New York. There, she modeled, joined the Living Theatre’s Paradise Now, and drifted through Andy Warhol’s Factory, absorbing the radical spirit of the late 60s. In 1965, she met Brian Jones in Munich and entered a tumultuous relationship that ended after a violent assault in Stockholm. She didn’t leave for another man. She left to save herself. Soon after, during the Rolling Stones’ 1966 U.S. tour, she fell in love with Keith Richards. Keith later said, "I fell in love with her mind… she got me reading." Her influence shaped his style, his interests, and the atmosphere around the band. Even Mick Jagger remarked, "Anita knew what a good image was." Anita acted in Barbarella, Candy, and Performance the last marking a complicated moment that included an affair with Mick. In 1967, she was present at the infamous Redlands drug bust with Keith, Mick, and Marianne Faithfull, a turning point that thrust their private world into the spotlight. With Keith, Anita lived through the Stones’ tax exile at Nellcôte in France, where Exile on Main St. was recorded. The atmosphere was creative but chaotic, shaped by heavy drug use and a constant stream of musicians and friends. Anita and Keith had three children: Marlon and Angela “Dandelion,” and a son, Tara, who died shortly after birth, a loss that never left her. By the mid 70s, addiction and grief strained her relationship with Keith. She was arrested in 1977 in New York and temporarily lost custody of her children. But she slowly rebuilt her life entering recovery, studying fashion again, and later enrolling at St. John’s College in Santa Fe in her fifties. She explored psychology, metaphysics, and astrology, searching for meaning far from the chaos of her past. Marianne Faithfull called her "Clever, dangerous, and very funny," while Anita insisted, "I wasn’t a groupie. I was living my own life." Looking back, she admitted, "I was terribly wrong about many things," and warned, "Love is dangerous. If you don’t have boundaries, it will eat you alive." In 2017, the documentary "Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg" revisited her life. She watched her younger self with distance, like a stranger. She had survived an era that consumed many. And though she once said she wanted to disappear, she never truly did. Anita Pallenberg didn’t follow rock history. She bent it. ⭐ Vlogmas Giveaway ⭐ To celebrate Vlogmas this year, I’m giving away a little gift every single day as a small way to say thank you for all the love and support.
