Hello 😊 Here’s a transcription I've done for the Vulfpeck’s song “Disco Ulysses” off their 2018 album "Hill Climber". Joe Dart was the bass on this track. You can find the full transcription over on Muzento under the Advanced Songs category. Here is yet another song from a long list of songs that keeps me humble. No matter how much I practice, music has a way of reminding me there’s always another level to reach. That’s the beauty of playing an instrument—it’s a lifelong path of learning, growing, having some fun, and hopefully entertaining, and inspiring some others along the way. :) This one turned into more of a project than I expected. What you see here took me about 26 hours spread out over six weeks. I actually started it back then, but it just wasn’t ready—so I kept chipping away until it finally made its way back to the top of the queue. And yeah, I could probably still use another couple of weeks on it :P Have you noticed, there’s really no melody in this song? It feels more like a backing track with a featured bass line, almost like it belongs in a video game. Musically, it’s a great workout for octaves and that “galloping” rhythm. The thing that helped me get close to a consistent sound was using my first finger for the majority of the song, especially on the downbeats and the upbeats (&). The challenges here are the tempo, the tricky rhythms, and getting a consistent tone. My advice would be to slow it down at first and build it up gradually. A drum machine works great for this. Stay solid with the rhythms (count them out if you need to), and use your strong finger as much as possible. If you’re looking for a project song, this one will definitely test you. ;) Hope you give it a try—and most importantly, have fun with it :) Don’t forget to like and subscribe—and thanks for watching! 🙏 -------------- If you appreciate what I do and or find it helpful, I hope you might consider supporting me through the following: ** Signup to the mailing list and get notified every time there's a new transcription! https://gregstranscripts.com/#subscribe Muzento - https://www.muzento.com Patreon - / gregfairweather or you can make a donation through PayPal at - https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... ------------------- Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
