Silent Backpacking Shenandoah NP Loop Old Rag, Whiteoak, Corbin Hollow

Solo backpacking trip through the Shenandoah National Park Loop in Shenandoah NP, Virginia in October of 2023. Including Old Rag, Whiteoak Canyon, Corbin Hollow. Approximately 27 miles of hiking, done over 3 days and 2 nights. The featured route starts at the Lower Whiteoak Canyon Station and goes onto the White Oak Canyon Trail, Whiteoak Canyon Fire Road, and up past Hawksbill Peak. From there I joined the Appalachian Trail, and set up my first camp at the base of the Stony Man Summit hike. On the second day I continue north on the Appalachian Trail, and turn onto the Nicholson Hollow Trail, Indian Run Trail, Corbin Mountain Trail, Old Rag Fire Road, and finally onto the Corbin Hollow Trail. Toward the end of the Corbin Hollow Trail I find a beautiful campsite near the river (Brokenback Run) where I spend night 2 camping. On the third and final day I make my way from the Weakley Hollow Fire Road up to the Old Rag Trail, eventually making my way back to the Lower Whiteoak Canyon Station to end my hike. The highlight of the trip was definitely the final day on the way up to Old Rag. While the route was somewhat challenging due to the rock scrambling, the views made it all worth it.
