The First Encounter on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/41... The First Encounter on GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/serious_sam_... Stats: Kills - 706/707 Secrets - 9/9 Time - 43:42 (Estimated Time: 40:00) The copy I have played is the GOG release, however I "steamified" it since the last playthrough. That said, it is still basically the same game otherwise, just that it now supports widescreen and the Serious Editor can now run on Windows 10 64-bit. I thought I may as well finish up the Karnak Demo level (called Training in the single-player menu), it is part of the final game. Obviously this takes place at day time, but enemies like the Marsh Hoppers and Lava Golems are not present here, and many of the fights are very different than they are in the Karnak level in the main game. Like before, I decided to do this level in one life from start to finish, so no autosaves or quicksaving at any part of the level. The maximum amount of kills and secrets have to be obtained, so I had to remember all the annoying spawns too. That said, the Karnak Demo level is pretty difficult and kind of has some fights not everyone will like. Getting under the par time on Serious difficulty is also a bit of a pain, so I didn't really bothered with that. You don't can't skip the last in-game cutscene by the way. There are a lot more Adult Arachnoids here than in the final game, especially at the Ankh Pool area. The last few fights are really annoying too, especially with all the bulls being tossed at you, you only have a minigun and a rocket launcher to handle this. I also completely forgot a wave of Kamikazes would come in at the second to last arena, guess I didn't practiced this level enough. I have no idea how anyone can try to play this on Serious without going to the Generous Yard at the start. I imagine it would not too nice since there is no Tommygun in the rest of the level as far as I can see. That and the number of Adult Arachnoids you'll run into is insane. Well, at least I didn't cheesed any fight or anything, not even the last Werebull fight at the end of the level. Luck I say! Anyhow, here is the Karnak Demo completed on Serious Difficulty. I am surprised that there isn't like many playthroughs of this demo online on Serious, but I guess I done my part. Q: How do you get the "Brave Secret"? A: This secret can only be earned on Serious difficulty. What you need to do is enter the room with the sleeping Adult Arachnoid, and make sure the door closes behind you. Afterwards, you need to start attacking the Adult Arachnoid and kill it WITHOUT picking up the rocket launcher in the room. Once successful, the "Brave Secret" is yours and NETRICSA rewards you with 30,000 points. Q: How do I get this secret on other difficulties then? A: You need to kill the the Adult Arachnoid without going inside the room. You can get the secret using any weapon, just kill the Adult Arachnoid while you're in the room with the four switches. This counts as a regular secret and only gives you 10,000 points. I have no idea why this secret is inconsistent across difficulties. Q: Wait 706 kills? I thought only 701/707 kills is the maximum possible? A: Something interesting about the enemy spawns after the Gnaar and Adult Arachnoid triggers is that they can be activated twice. You need to trigger both the bottom left and bottom right sides when you first enter the Ankh Pool. After you pick up the Gold Amon statue, the same triggers can be activated again. There will be four enemies at the bottom left side (2 Kleers, 1 Adult Arachnoid, and 1 Beheaded Bomber), and just one Adult Arachnoid at the bottom right side. Every other trigger can only be activated once, I checked. Q: Do you really need to smash that wall open when you stand on that platform to spawn in the Werebulls? Will more enemies spawn? A: You don't need to. No enemies will spawn if a Werebull smashes the wall, unlike the final game. Q: Why did you spend some time not killing the Harpies in the final arena? A: A Gnaar spawner only spawns one Gnaar at a time and if you kill too many Harpies, the spawn will deactivate. You'll need to have the Harpies chase you and hope they don't catch up on you. I had to be sure I killed all the Gnaars before taking down the Harpies. Q: What about the HD and Fusion versions? A: They have different spawns and made some changes to the demo level, so this video doesn't exactly represent them well. That said, most of the spawn triggers should be the same with them. Q: Is Karnak Demo in Revolution the same as this? A: Not sure, it's been forever since I played Revolution. I assume it's basically the same, but Aligator Pit and/or Croteam might have changed the enemy spawns. They might also change the spawns again in the future, who knows. :) #SeriousSam #TheFirstEncounter #SeriousDifficulty
