I was jigging and fishing with nightcrawlers on 3-way slip sinker bait rigs and on a free line, and I was trying to target big yellow perch at first and smallmouth bass later. I ended up catching jumbo perch, big smallmouth bass, and walleye on nightcrawlers, and I caught some more smallmouth bass while jig fishing with bucktail jigs, curly tail jigs, tube jigs, micro jigs, and a custom jig made with a bass worm. Also, someone I know told me one of the crazier fish stories I've ever heard; long story short, some of his other wild stories turned out to be a little credible, so I tried to take what he said seriously despite the astronomically small chances of finding 28" or 29" smallmouth bass.
