UCLA Anderson FEMBA alumna Dr. Nasim Afsar (’17) is senior vice president and chief health officer at Oracle Health. A health information technology expert, she formed and steers Oracle’s committee on artificial intelligence and machine learning. UCLA Anderson’s Dean Tony Bernardo invited Afsar to offer her perspectives on the future of health care innovation in light of the most promising technology developments. She observed that, overwhelmingly, technologies are called upon to create more personalized care, while reducing the administrative burden on providers and consumers. As a professional concerned about the quality of data and metrics and the risks of bias within AI algorithms, Afsar also expressed that leveraging technology to ensure health equity is an ethical priority. AI and ML can help reach underserved, vulnerable populations to connect them with care and also bring down their costs. “As far as I’m concerned,” she said, “health equity is health, period.” Learn more about the Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series at UCLA Anderson: https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/news-an... #AI #datascience #UCLAAlumni
