Meta addresses this with 200G-L optical transceivers, enhancing both front-end and back-end networks. This presentation reviews Metas optical interconnect architecture, compares photonics technologies in 200G-L transceivers, and discusses desired diagnostic features for large-scale AI model training. Additionally, Meta explores Linear Drive Pluggable Optics (LPO) and Linear Receive Optics (LRO) to reduce power consumption and costs. Insights from LPO development emphasize overcoming technical challenges and ensuring system compatibility. We will share development experiences, lessons learned, and feasibility studies on LPO and LRO, focusing on technical and practical considerations for next-generation optical technologies.
