Check out the entire playlist here: • Viking Wood Work | Making Wall Posts ... In the end of the video there is a part where I explain what is going on in this video. In this episode I need to cut the grooves in the wall posts that the wall planks will slide into. I use a straight profile edge axe as a wide chisel to cut the lines and a smaller chisel to mark the width of the groove and chisel out the waist between the lines. I also want to add knee braces or wind braces to the corner posts for structural strange. I carve or hew these out of fresh green apple wood with axe and saw out dovetail or half lap joint with my two replicas of viking age saws. I mark the tenons onto the posts and chisel out the mortise. To secure the braces I use two different auger drills to drill through the posts and hammer in some pegs. For the wider pegs that secure the posts to the bottom frame I hammer in wedge from both sides in the peg to prevent it from ever moving.
