Plenary session | Infrastructure for Sustainable Agricultural Production: Pathways to Food Security in Brazil and Africa Brazil Africa Forum 2025 — November 4, 2025 This session explored the essential role of infrastructure in advancing sustainable agricultural production and enhancing food security in Brazil and Africa. According to the World Bank, nearly 37% of all food produced in Africa is lost due to inadequate storage, and supply chains can account for up to 45% of the final price of basic commodities. These challenges underline the need for strategic investments in logistics — including transportation, storage, irrigation, and technological access. Speakers discussed how improved infrastructure can reduce losses, lower production costs, boost agribusiness, and promote rural development. The dialogue also examined opportunities for international cooperation and innovative models capable of driving agricultural transformation across both regions. Participants: • Aristide De Balla Moro Sidibé | CEO at Mali Airlines SA and Former Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Mali • Carlos Alberto de Souza Filho | Ship Pilot and Member of the Technical Council of the Brazilian Maritime Pilots’ Association • Monica Monteiro | Vice President of Sales and New Business at Times Brasil CNBC • Miguel Azevedo | Head of Investment Banking, Middle East and Africa and Portugal at Citi • Luiz Fará Monteiro | Journalist at Rede Record Network (Moderator) www.forumbrazilafrica.com
