A concept that isn’t new, but still quite rare. Each musician at this event performed with their unique experiences, personal histories, and emotions, distinctly expressing the joy, satisfaction, and thrill of being back on stage after a global lockdown. At one of Paris's most beautiful theaters, Laurent de Wilde brought together an exceptional group composed of the best French pianists from both metropolitan France and the Antilles, along with a Malian musician and an Italian one. We're talking about Giovanni Mirabassi joining Laurent de Wilde, Pierre de Bethman, and Benjamin Moussay; Bernard Lubat and Edouard Ferlet; Leila Olivesi and Cleyla Abraham, as well as Mario Canonge, Chassol, Gregory Privat, and the elder Alain Jean-Marie. And for a journey to the roots of all Afro-American music, including jazz, we had the powerful blues performance by pianist Cheick Tidiane Seck. For nearly an hour and twenty minutes, these virtuosos took turns delivering performances of rare emotional intensity. With tributes to greats like Duke Ellington and cutting-edge modern improvisation, the audience sailed through genres, and across cultures, offering unwavering support to those who made them travel. Laurent de Wilde concluded this high-flying concert in a resounding finale with Alain Jean-Marie. These two musical geniuses finished with an impressive tête-à-tête, a grand piano face-off in the warm atmosphere of the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris.
