APRS Day Out is an annual amateur radio activity designed to test our skills at forming ad-hoc APRS networks and coordinate real-time digital communications among portable and mobile stations during events and exercises — just like the concept described on APRS.org. Instead of relying only on the busy national APRS frequency (144.39 MHz), Day Out participants use a temporary ad-hoc APRS channel so that only other real participants are visible on the network. In this video we announce the upcoming APRS Day Out event during Hamcation 2026 and show you how to join the fun and be ready on the air. You’ll learn the basics of what an APRS Day Out is — and how to get on that ad-hoc network — so you can connect with other operators at Hamcation or on the air wherever you are. To help you participate, this video walks through step-by-step APRS configuration on several popular radios and platforms, including: • BTECH UV-Pro • Kenwood TH-D75 • Kenwood TH-D74 • Yaesu FT-5DR • APRSDroid (Android APRS app) You’ll learn the basics of APRS setup, callsign configuration, beaconing, messaging, GPS settings, and path selection, so you can confidently get on the air for APRS Day Out. These examples are useful for new APRS users as well as experienced operators looking to verify their settings before the event. 🔹My Favorite Gear - https://www.amazon.com/shop/km4ack 🔹Links mentioned in the video More Day Out Information - http://simp.ly/publish/ygcJHq 🔹Raspberry Pi Build Guide - http://tiny.cc/pi4guide 🔹Frequently Asked Questions - http://tiny.cc/km4ack-faq 🔹Weekly Newsletter - https://mailchi.mp/40da1fe472e3/km4ac... 🔹Follow Me Twitter @km4ack 🔹FREE Get Started Guide - http://tiny.cc/getstartedguide 🔹Cool Ham Gear - http://km4ack.com 🔹Support the channel through Patreon - / km4ack 🔹Did you just get a raspberry pi and want to hook it up to your radio?
