North Rejects Military Action Against Fulani Bandits

A Fulani leader, one professor Yusuf Usman has strongly oppose the plan by Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, to launch a war against Fulani bandits. He said ''His role is political, not military, and it requires listening to the people. We are not asking for a large-scale military operation. Our call is for dialogue and peaceful engagement, not continuous bloodshed. Experience has shown that military action does not work. We have gone into the forests, met with bandit leaders, and seen first-hand the destruction caused by military offensives and vigilante groups like Yan Banga. In reality, many of these bandits view themselves as freedom fighters. Should dialogue with bandits, should Nigeria continue to dialogue with murderers, kidnappers, rapists and terrorists?
