Best viewed in 1080p HD During a week's holiday in Torbay, I was able to visit the South Devon Railway, a 7 mile long line running between Buckfastleigh and Totnes Riverside, with trains running parallel to the River Dart in places en route. Having made plans to travel onboard the following day, I was able to fit in some lineside filming on the 26th of August, during which GWR 1366 0-6-0PT No. 1369 was in charge of the steam diagram on the SDR's 'Peak' timetable, in addition to a DMU. We start off at Riverford Bridge, which spans both the SDR's metals & the River Dart, in somewhat cloudy conditions. Tackling a slight gradient, 1369 soon emerges and makes a wonderful sight charging along the River Dart towards Buckfastleigh, with a rake of 5 coaches (including a GWR auto trailer) in tow. This is followed by a shot taken from Riverside Crossing, situated a short distance east of Staverton. Whistling briefly on its approach, the Pannier is seen steadily accelerating away from the 5mph slack at Nappers Crossing further down - accompanied by a particularly cheerful wave from a member of the footplate crew!
