Episode 2 of Series 2 of Underground Revisited is a rewind back to January 7th 2018 and my 1st time trying out on the Central Line including visiting the underground section of the Hainault Loop at Gants Hill, Redbridge and Wanstead plus a visit to Holland Park which at the time only been reopen for a few months after lift replacement and refurbishment. This is featured on 'Central Line Trains on January 7th 2018 • Central Line Trains on January 7th 2018 At around the time over the Christmas period of 2017 to early 2018 having started mostly on the Northern Line I began to try out other tube lines. Also my filming at the time when I did this wasn't that good when I look back at it now however at the same time I had only been spotting for just over 6 months and I was still learning. Gants Hill looks a bit worn out and even on a Sunday can be difficult where the train frequency is average 4 - 5 minutes between trains. The service pattern on the Hainault loop works like this with the main services being Ealing Broadway to Hainault via Newbury Park with other services including some extended to Woodford via Chigwell and also services terminating at Newbury Park from White City. Redbridge station with it's island platform can feel a bit gloomy from a look perspective however at the same time on the day when it was freezing in fact being just a few feet below ground ironically underneath the Charlie Brown Roundabout which of course is the Junction of the A12 Eastern Avenue, A406 North Circular Road and also the start of the M11 Motorway from London to Cambridge. Wanstead station is unusual and one thing that is unusual is the station announcements which at the time found a bit strange compared to some of the modern ones used on the underground system. So last station was Holland Park and some may wonder wait a minute thats on the other side of London so why go there. Well in 2017 the station got closed for replacement of the old lifts and well as refurbishment of the station which at the time before it shut hadn't been touched since the 1950s and eventhough it was reopened although from the look perspective it wasn't fully finished although the white plaster finish of the roof of the platform would be finished gradually with works likely carried out at night time. As for the 1992 stock well having been in service since April 1993 several years before the line was re-signalled the DC Motors are due to be replaced gradually with AC motors however at some point around 2030 or beyond it's due to be replaced by new tube stock dubbed as the New Tube for London which will start replacing the 1973 Stock on the Piccadilly Line around 2023 and 2024.
