Russian missiles and drones struck deep inside Ukraine overnight, killing civilians and damaging homes far from the frontline. In Kryvyi Rih — the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky — two elderly residents were killed after projectiles hit residential areas, while another woman was wounded. Further south in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian officials say a Russian drone strike killed three more people and set buildings and vehicles ablaze. As Ukraine reels from continued attacks, Russia reported being hit as well. A Ukrainian drone strike in southern Russia’s Adygea Republic near Krasnodar injured 11 people, according to regional authorities. Meanwhile, the war is being fought beneath frozen ground in Kyiv. Energy workers battle extreme winter conditions to restore electricity after repeated strikes on power infrastructure, warning that the grid is under severe strain. Germany has now accused Russia of committing war crimes, saying Moscow is deliberately targeting civilians and critical infrastructure during the coldest winter of the war. Russia, however, claims battlefield advances across multiple fronts, reporting heavy Ukrainian losses — figures that remain unverified.
