Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2024 Acura MDX, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Curt Trailer Wiring Harness. But before we get into that, let's take a minute, check it out, and make sure it's going to work for you. So with the MDX, you know they're pretty capable SUVs, and people use 'em to do a lot of different things, which does include pulling some trailers around. And if that's what you plan on doing, you're gonna need a way to power up the lights on that trailer. That way you're not only safe, but it's a legal requirement as well. And so that's where a kit like this is gonna come into play. In our case, which I like actually, on a vehicle like MDX, we have it set up to where it's gonna be stored inside of the vehicle. That way it's outta sight, outta the elements. You can store it outside next to the hitch too if you want. It's entirely up to you. But doing it this way, how it's gonna work, you're gonna have more than enough length. You're just going to drape this over the threshold and avoid the latch mechanism, of course, you don't wanna get hung up in that. Close the hatch on it, and that might seem kind of odd, doing that, but it's how it's set up to work. You're not gonna hurt the wiring or hurt your vehicle at all. And that's going to give us that four-way flat style of trailer connector there. So this'll provide us with the basic signals, whatever turn signals, our brake lights, and our running lights. In case if you're ever wanting to pull a trailer that has brakes, this can be a piece of that puzzle to allow you to do that. So if you use this, and then the etrailer.com Universal Brake Controller Install Kit and a brake controller, that'll give you the ability to pull those trailers with the brakes on it. So just wanted to mention that because, like I said, it's a pretty big SUV, and might be some of you out there who plan on doing that. But other than that, at the end of the day, there's really not a whole lot to it, pretty simple concept. As far as the installation goes, it really wasn't too bad, believe it or not. We utilized some factory wiring to get our signals from, pretty easy to get to. Even the power supply was right here in the back, so we didn't have to run a wire all the way from the back to the front, and really wasn't too bad. But with that said, I did use a couple of different style of electrical connectors that you will have to get separately, not really a huge deal though. We can pick 'em up right here at etrailer. If this is gonna be something you plan on installing yourself, feel free to hang around. We'll go ahead and get started on it now. To begin our installation, we're gonna be here at the back of our Acura, and we're gonna be working right inside this area. So first thing that we're gonna do is remove any of our floor coverings. So that piece will just snap right out, and set it to the side. And then this big threshold piece here, the big piece of plastic that runs along, we can remove that too. There's no bolts or anything holding this in, just some plastic fasteners, so you kinda just pry up on it. This connector right here, this is what we are looking for. So this is actually a connector for a factory tow package type setup, but the signals, the turn signals, and the brake light, and the taillight signals that we're gonna need to install this wiring are also sent through here. And that's what we're gonna use to pick the signals up. So what I'm gonna do, probably just remove some of this tape from here and test everything to figure out what wires do what. So how I'm gonna test this wiring is pretty simple. I just have a test light here, and just to find our first signal, right now I have the left turn going on our car. And if you kinda run through and touch the back of the pins here, (tester beeping) You can see that light is beeping and flashing in conjunction with our turn signal going, so we know that's the left turn, which happens to be these two brown wires, all right And so I'll run through the rest of 'em, find our taillight, our brake light, and our right turn, and we'll get back with you and let you know the color of those wires. We know those two little brown wires going into that terminal was our left turn. Right next to it, you'll have two white wires going into a terminal,
