"Almost Summer" - The Boys Next Door VERY RARE 1965 (Lost surf/garage acetate)

Back in the early '60's there was a surf rock/garage band from Canada called the Boys Next Door. They played local gigs here and their in hopes to someday be discovered by a label and make it 'big.' In the meantime, they listened to records by the Beach Boys, the Four Seasons, the Hi-Lo's and the Crew-Cuts and worked on the tight vocal blend. Sadly, their career was halted by the British Invasion circa 1966. Unlike most other groups of the day, they refused to abandon their harmonies in favor of a harder, edgier sound. As a result, they're chances of 'making it' dwindled. Recorded April 30th 1965, this particular fun-in-the-sun number features some nice harmonies and a very interesting guitar solo. Found on an an old acetate in my attic.
