I’ll show you step by step how to make this southern classic - one of the sweetest dessert recipes for the summer. #strawberryshortcake #summerrecipes #dessertrecipes #strawberry #shortcake #easyrecipes #homemade #dessert #howtomake #fromsctratch #summerdesserts #strawberries #whippedcream Don’t miss my other videos - checkout these playlists: The Dessert Collection • The Dessert Collection Comfort Food Favorites • Comfort Food Favorites Strawberry Shortcake Ingredients For the strawberries: -2 pints strawberries, ripe and rinsed -1/2 cup sugar For the shortcake: -4 cups flour -3 tablespoons sugar -5 teaspoons baking powder -1/4 teaspoon salt -12 tablespoon butter, softened (1 1/2 sticks) -1 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream -additional 4 tablespoons butter, melted For the whipped cream: -1 cup heavy whipping cream -1/4 powdered sugar -1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions For the strawberries: -Slice the strawberries thin. Place 1/4 of the sliced strawberries in a bowl and mash with a fork. Try and squeeze as much of the juices out. -Add remaining strawberries and sugar. Mix well, cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. For the whipped cream: -In a large bowl, combine the cream, sugar and vanilla. With a hand mixer, mix on high until soft peaks begin to form. Refrigerate and set aside. For the shortcake: -Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. -Add butter and press into the dry ingredients. -Slowly mix in cream until a dough forms. -On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 4-5 times then roll out to 1/2” thickness. -Use a 3” cookie cutter to cut an even number of biscuits. -Place half of the biscuits on an uncreased baking sheet and lightly brush with melted butter. Place remaining half of biscuits on top of the first half on the baking sheet. Brush tops with butter. -Bake at 375º for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. -Let cool for 15 minutes. Biscuits should still be warm when served. If made ahead of time, be sure to warm them before serving. -Pull biscuits apart and butter insides with melted butter. -Make two layers of shortcake, berries then whipped cream starting with the bottom biscuit.
