This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. When I was in school, in 6th grade I learnt chemistry because the teacher liked me very much. I never thought how much that would influence my education. When I was in school, in 6th grade I learnt chemistry because the teacher liked me very much. I never thought how much that would influence my education. Some teachers predicted I would fail and will “never become a man”. Surprisingly, or not I am the only one from my classmates which has a master degree and a Ph.D. in education. This is not about me; it is about teacher’s predictions. As a psychologist I designed programs for different professionals who work with children. While working with students I realized the importance of a kind and lovely attitude needed in order to guide children. I have seen intelligent students failing because their teachers predicted so. Those students could have succeeded if their teachers had trusted them and had motivated them and not criticized and compared to others. So, I begun to implement programs for teachers and to show that they can better help a student if they are happy and if they don’t stress the student to become perfect but to strengthen their most powerful abilities and to have self-confidence. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
