Homepage of BasscoverPete https://basscoverpete.com/ As in other songs of Fleetwood Mac, John McVie uses staccato notes (marked with a dot in the transcription) a lot. Especially in the outro he uses this approach. Look for instance at bar 98 or 106. Also in the outro he uses slides which are very nice (for instance bar 89 and bar 92). In the outro the bassline is very different from the straight quarter and eight notes in the verse. This difference makes the bassline in the outro very ‘releaving’ in my opinion. It’s more open and legato (except for the single dotted notes he uses) than the verse. The staccato approach versus the the legato approach is also clear in the verse versus the chorus. By the way: I've tuned my bass a bit up to get in tune with the recording of this song. You make lovin fun is written and sung by Christine McVie and was the fourth single of the album Rumours. The song was inspired by an affair Christine McVie had with the band's lighting director. She told her then-husband and fellow band member John McVie that the song was about her dog.
