In his prize-winning essay, law student John Thorpe explored Ayn Rand's use of Greek mythological themes in her novel Atlas Shrugged. In this video, Thorpe talks about the practical value of Rand's novel, whose heroes provide moral reference points allowing a reader to ask, "What would John Galt do here?" Says Thorpe: "Rand's compelling portraits of human excellence will always stay with me." He also expresses his appreciation to donors of the Ayn Rand Institute for sponsoring the contest that awarded him a $20,000 cash prize in 2015.
