My deal- http://beacons.ai/natehills Picking right up where we left off in last week's episode, we pack up camp and head to the high point in our excursion, Pico Austria, at 17,500 ft above sea level. This was higher than any of had been prior, with or without bikes. Riding off the summit of this peak is still one of my fondest memories, to this day, the piercing sound of breaking talus, still fresh in my memory. With a couple of hard days ahead of us, and rapidly running low on food, we have our work cut out for us if we are going to make it to our pick up spot on the south end of the range on time. Without communication to the outside world, we are hoping that the ride we arranged over a week ago is where it is supposed to be when we arrive. And beer, we hope they had the foresight to know that we would be thirsty. Tune in next week as we continue to heard llamas with our bikes and see if we make it out in one piece, and if there is cold cerveza waiting for us... This is part 2 of a 3 part series. I am riding my Yeti SB55c for this adventure. In case you missed part 1, you can watch it here- • Bikepacking the Cordillera Real in the Bol... This was shot in 2016 in the Bolivian Andes on a route that had never been attempted by bicycle. The weary travelers Joey Schusler, Carston Oliver, Thomas Woodson and myself set out on an adventure of a lifetime, not fully knowing what we were getting ourselves into. This was my first bikepacking experience, fully self supported, without communication to the outside world, and with sparse details at best. This is the essence of Type 2 activities. #followcamfriday sufferfest situation.
