Fata Morgana Mirages in the Mojave Desert

Fata Morgana mirages significantly distort objects, often to the point where those objects are unrecognizable. (To learn more about them, use Google...I'm not ANY sort of expert on this!) One area I've often seen them over the years is in the Mojave Desert along Route 66 between Cadiz, CA and it's junction with U.S. 95 at "Arrowhead Junction", west of Needles, CA. Unfortunately, a large portion of that segment is closed down, and just the section between Essex/Fenner and Arrowhead Junction is open. This footage is taken just east of the gas station at Fenner along Rt 66. (Not far from the junction of Rt 66 and Interstate 40) It seems like summer time is the best time to view these Fata Morganas (what I used to call "Mountain Mirages" before I learned the correct term), and the time window is between daybreak, and actual dawn. So you need to be up pretty early! It is fascinating to see whole segments of mountains that are completely 'missing', and segments that are bizarrely-shaped, with 'bridges' and 'spikes' and parts that look like they're just floating in the air! And you can see the shapes change right before your eyes. While those captured here in this video aren't the wildest I've seen, I'm happy to have gotten some footage, at least.
