Aloha from Oahu! Oahu is the bigger, more widely know island being the home of Honolulu and Pearl Harbour. It is more touristy and naturally busier with more action to enjoy. We decided to escape to the quieter end of the island, the North Shore to enjoy a more relaxed beach vibe. ACCOMMODATION: Turtle Bay Resort - Another wee cheeky VRBO find, which is an extension to the Ritz Carlton so you can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our apartment also provided access to three swimming pools, tennis / basketball / pickle ball courts all within a short walk to golf, beautiful bays and lovely running trails. N.B. this accommodation is quite isolated with the closest food shop and or restaurant (other than the pricey Ritz!) being a minimum 10 minute drive away. We took advantage of the local bus service however, a hire car would be highly recommended. HIGHLIGHTS: Kawela Beach - Stunning golden sand, horse shoe bay where you can enjoy an up close experience swimming with turtles and enjoying the most beautiful sunsets. This beach is also well known for being featured in multiple movies including; Jumanji, Pirates of the Caribbean and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Nearby there are also horse riding stables, the 'Pill Box' trail and surfing. Uncle Bryan's Surf School - A lovely team teaching you not only how to improve your surfing skills, adaptable to individual level, but also about the local environment and how to surf and land a shore reef safely. https://surfnorthshore.com Sharks Cove - Family friendly, shallow bay with crystal clear waters allowing you to safely enjoy snorkelling with multiple beautiful fish. A brilliant place to introduce your wee ones to snorkelling. FOOD & DRINK: Ted's Bakery - Famous throughout the island for their TREMENDOUS cream pies. This means there is always a crowd that bring with them a lively and fun atmosphere. Great value and quality. We'd highly recommend the garlic shrimps, rice and salad followed 100% by a slice of the yummy cream pie! https://www.tedsbakery.com We only had three full days on Oahu but we managed to pack alot in. We would highly recommend minimum a week to enjoy all that Oahu has to offer. Next time we'd love to explore Lanaki Beach, Koko Head Crater and see more of Hale'iwa. Mahalo Oahu! Hope to see you in Tahiti! Follow us around the world!
