Necrozma has made its debut in Pokémon GO in GO Fest 2024. Necrozma is a Psychic-type Pokémon, which is weak against Bug/Ghost/Dark type moves. As a raid boss, Necrozma has 210 attack and 165 defense, in which both of its attack/defense stats are slightly below average in the tier. As a raid boss, Necrozma learns Psycho Cut/Shadow Claw/Metal Claw as fast moves and Outrage/Dark Pulse/Future Sight/Iron Head as charged moves. While Necrozma has a below average stats, Necrozma raid is not exactly easy due to the rarity of weather boost damage bonus on Ghost/Dark types and overall lack of budget options on the types super effective against it. Specifically, under best friend bonus (in upcoming season) and no weather boost damage bonus, Necrozma - Dawn Wing, Shadow Tyranitar, Shadow Chandelure, Shadow Gengar, Blacephalon, Shadow Weavile, Pheromosa, Darkrai, Shadow Mewtwo, Shadow Houndoom, Shadow Honchkrow, Shadow Absol, Chandelure, Hydreigon, Shadow Banette, Gengar, Tyranitar, Gholdengo, Giratina-Origin, Hoopa Unbound, Volcarona, Shadow Pinsir and Yveltal can defeat Necrozma as Duo Raid. For Mega Evolution, Mega Gengar, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Banette, Mega Rayquaza, Mega Houndoom, Mega Absol, Mega Heracross, Mega Pinsir, Mega Alakazam, Mega Beedrill, Mega Gyarados, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Scizor, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre can also beat Necrozma by themselves under the same setting. Of course, Mega Rayquaza is once again listed as the top counter. Since Mega Rayquaza can also provide catch candy XL bonus while catching Necrozma, it is arguably the best counter against it, just like how it always was against most Psychic-type raid bosses. This time, Mega Rayquaza would challenge Necrozma as Duo Raid without weather boost. Necrozma’s fast moves all has similar power such that Mega Rayquaza does not have any preference on it. For charged moves, Mega Rayquaza would prefers Dark Pulse/Iron Head in general. However, since Mega Rayquaza sufficient DPS to afford rejoins, it can defeat Necrozma regardless of its moveset, as long as Mega Rayquaza would dodge Outrage/Future Sight.
